Vidya Balan is an Indian film actress, who appears in Hindi and Bengali movies. She has started her acting career at the age of 16 with the movie "Hum Paanch". Later, she has seen in several television commercials and music videos. She made her feature film debut with the independent Bengali drama "Bhalo Theko" in 2003. She played a glamorous lead role in the blockbuster comedy film "Lage Raho Munna Bhai". For her extrodinary performances, she has received one National Film Award, five Filmfare Awards and five Screen Awards. 

Vidya Balan was born on 1 January, 1978 in Ottapalam, Kerala. She has completed her studies at St. Anthony's Convent School, St. Xavier's College and got degree in Sociology. She attained Masters degree from Bombay University. Her most successful film is "The Dirty Picture" with Emraan Hashmi. Ishqiya, Kahaani also her as a leading contemporary. She promotes humanitarian causes and supports the empowerment of women. She is trained in carnatic music and briefly studied the dance forms of Bharatnatyam and Kathak. From a young age she aspired to a career in film and was inspired by the work of actors Shabana Azmi and Madhuri Dixit.

She started her acting carre from a Malayalam film Chakram, but the film was shelved. Then she signed for a Tamil film, Run but later she got replaced with Meera Jasmine. When Chakram was restarted Meera Jasmine was chosen instead of Vidya. She then did some Television advertising from year 1998. She also did some supporting roles in some music videos. Then in year 2003, she did a Bengali film Bhalo Theko for which she won Anandalok Puraskar Best Actress award in Kolkata.Then she came to bollywood doing her first debut in film Parineeta. She got Filmfare Best Female Debut Award and a nomination for Filmfare Best Actress Award. After the success of first two films, producer who dropped her from Manasellam again signed her for film Dasavathaaram. She rejected the offer. Then in
year 2006, she came in film Lage Raho Munna Bhai which was a blockbuster on box office. It was the second highest grossing film of that year. Then in year 2007 she came on film Guru which was again a hit. Then she did film Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love and Eklavya: The Royal Guard in year 2007. Eklavya was then selected as India's official entry to the Oscars for the 80th Academy Awards. Then her two releases Heyy Babyy and Bhool Bhulaiya was also a success in year 2007. Biography: Born in Mangalore and brought up in Mumbai, Aishwarya Rai is the daughter of Krishnaraj Rai and Vrinda Rai. She completed her education in Mumbai and pursued architectural studies while modelling part time. She was crowned Miss India World and Miss World, both in 1994. Then, like many of her predecessors, the film industry beckoned this fair damsel. Aishwarya made her debut in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil biopic, Iruvar (1997). The film was a critical and commercial success. Her Bollywood debut came with Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (1997). However the film failed to create any ripples at the box office. She then starred in S. Shankar’s Tamil film, Jeans, which went on to become India’s official entry to the Oscars for that year.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) was one of the major milestones in her career. Aishwarya’s role won her critical acclaim and accolades from all over. The film was a major success and won her, her first Filmfare award for Best Actress. Her other movie, Taal (1999) received moderate success in India, however was internationally very successful.

She then starred in Josh and Mohabbatein alongside Shah Rukh Khan in 2000. She portrayed the role of Shah Rukh’s childhood sweetheart Paru (Parvati) in Devdas (2002), which was an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s famous novel by the same name.
